Why I changed my approach to social media ♡ Eviebunnie

I think my approach to social media can best be described by Owl City’s “Reality is a lovely place but I wouldn’t want to live there” ˚ ༘ ೀ⋆。˚ Since I moved to Japan, I found myself suddenly surrounded by almost all the things that I love most. Suddenly, my world went from being someone who created their own pink tinted reality in just one room, to being in the very place so many of my favourite things had come into fruition⋆𐙚₊˚⊹♡ It was one of the best decisions I have ever made, and at the same time, one of the most daunting. Suprisingly, this was one of the most comforting parts to the process; no matter what time, I knew someone else would be awake and perhaps feeling a similar sort of anxiety. I think many people say that moving to a different country is lonely, and I absolutely agree. However, I think my loneliness is more reflected in a sense of feeling the distance between others and myself, or having to wear a mask during certain social situations. It can be perhaps described as feeling that in a crowd of people, and feeling that sense of emotional exhaustion because of a type of disconnect.

When I look into this feeling, I think a lot of it stems from the innate desire for social acceptance we have as humans (and bunnies too… I also feel this way!) Everyone wants to be loved and accepted by their peers, regardless of if the face they show is their own or by creation. However, I think that putting that mask on only creates more problems. If it results in positive social interactions, you reinforce that belief that people will only like you if you become the type of person that they think is desirable. Eventually this affects your self esteem, confidence, and mental health. If this persona you created is the only face you show, then how are you to know if someone actually likes you for you, or the guise you have created; all things that worked against who I felt I was, or wanted to put across. I know that this is quite a common occurrence in Japan, and so I somewhat used to feel guilty that I didn’t fit in to this thought process. I think a lot of this stems from not having the tools to define or understand yourself ౨ৎ

It has taken a lot of courage to come to terms with the fact that I am not comfortable with these types of relationships- and I think it's still something I'm working on, as it is quite difficult to change a thought process you’ve had for so long. Especially when it involves distancing yourself from friendships that might not be best for you, I think that takes a lot of strength to simply say ‘no’ and recognise that not everyone is going to be a good match for you. It also is important to try and be honest with yourself about the positives from who you spend your time with. Are you surrounding yourself with people who purposefully try to put you down, don’t value your time and/or drain your social battery? Or, do you leave those social interactions looking forward to seeing that person again, feeling in a good spirits and happy you’ve met someone with so many similar interests and hobbies as you ? I am extremely lucky in my current life, to say that my feeling is the latter. I don’t feel that I have to tone myself down to be able to have fun with my friends, or portray myself as a one dimensional person, as I perhaps did a year ago  ⭑

So, what does this have to do with social media ? ⋆𐙚₊˚⊹♡ I often hear from my peers who aren't avid social media users that there is a common belief that social media is fake. While in many circumstances, this is true (after all, we all show our best front on social media, often leaving out the negative parts of our life!) I personally find that social media is a useful tool for self expression. Whether it’s through clothes, makeup, music, captions or editing, there are so many different ways to create your own little world that perfectly represents who you are and what you love. I can understand that this desire to show a rose tinted world could also be seen as fake or one dimensional as I mentioned earlier. And, I wouldn’t disagree with someone for thinking that; after all, I don’t have angel wings in real life (disappointing, I know!) or perfect skin, or a perfect life, even. But, I can share what makes the world beautiful and vibrant, in my eyes. I really like to explain it with the idea of a cute world view (かわいい世界観); I want to try and explain what I love most and what I believe is the cutest things in my mind. Is it a form of escapism? Absolutely! But I don’t believe escapism is inherently bad. What matters is what you are escaping from, and where you want to escape to. Are you finding comfort and happiness in that online space? For me, I feel Instagram is my place to be creative, socialise and use my platform to try and create content that other like minded people enjoy, and I look forward each day to chatting, sharing content and interacting with others.

I'm also extremely grateful to have been able to fund my hobbies through instagram's bonus scheme, collaborations with brands and having a separate job that allows me freedom to share my hobbies on the side. The only way that I was able to get to that point, was to stop caring about what others thought of me, or how certain people would react to me being ‘cringey’. Ironically, being my authentic self has made me more successful in this sense. However, I don’t think that personal gain should be the only measure of how much you enjoy social media. Whilst that might sound quite hypocritical coming from a content creator, I still want to emphasise that happiness should be the key to success, not the other way around. You are a lot more likely to succeed if you approach your accounts with the thought process of “what would I like to see?” instead of “what would get me the most likes, comments, etc”. I also believe that the energy you put out into the world, is the energy you are likely to receive back. If you want to enjoy social media and flourish on the internet, you have to put out positive energy 𝄞⨾𓍢ִ໋🎧ྀི

To summarise, there are many interpretations of what makes something, or someone, ‘real’ or authentic. My definition may be different from yours, and that’s totally fine! But, my main message I want to share, is that you should try to hold yourself to your own personal standard of authenticity, and create what truly makes you happy. It is so hard to go against the grain, but you are much more likely to achieve a happier outcome than if you were to put yourself into a box of what you think others would prefer. You will never be truly happy if you chase social approval, but you can be happiest if you create your own world that you love ᯓᡣ𐭩

♡ Sanrio Puroland | How to meet My Melody & the best ryousangata photo spots!~ ♡

 Good morning everybun!

For today's blog post, I really wanted to share some of the cute and happy moments from a super fun day at Sanrio Puroland with my adorable friend, and also some of my favourite photo spots that are popular with Jirai-kei and Ryousangata type girls, as well as advice for if you are thinking of visiting Puroland too~

This was my 4th visit to Puroland,….! We managed to see so many things and enjoy the cute Puro atmosphere, as well as take so many cute photos hehe…!~

Outfit details

Dress: Ank Rouge x Sweet Piano
Pouch bag: Sanrio Sweet Piano Birthday 2023 collection
Headband: Sanrio Sweet Piano Birthday 2023 collection
Hair ribbons: Paris Kids
Shoes: Buffalo

Photo recommendation: heart headband pose

This adorable pose is one I was inspired to try from photos on insta, but it’s where you pose the headbands together to look a little like a heart!~ This works best with matching headbands, but you can also try a cute contrast like My Melody and Kuromi
You can use many different backgrounds for this pose depending on the characters you’re representing, but I recommend a background that has shows some of Puroland’s adorable wallpaper, like this one outside of ‘Lady Kitty’s Mansion’~♪  For an extra bit of cuteness, make sure to show your cute ita nails in the photo, and edit in sparkles with an app like ‘Snow’!

Photo recommendation: character greeting

For the next photo, I wanted to share a cute candid from meeting my idol, My Melody!
In order to meet the Puro cast, you can check their app or website to see what characters are available that day
~♪ Next, book a slot on the machines that can be found in the Puro Village (bottom floor) near the Wisdom Tree, in the entertainment hall. If you really love a character and it’s your dream to meet them, I really recommend researching the day they’re at Puro beforehand so you can definitely meet them!

This was my first time meeting My Melo, despite having gone to Puroland so many times.. and it was so so special! She is so sweet

For my photo recommendation for this spot, I would say candid hugging photos are really the cutest for sure!! the staff take many photos for you, and it is a really adorable keepsake. For the character meet, it’s best to enjoy yourself and the photos will definitely be cute!~♪

Photo recommendation: My Melo drive

This adorable strawberry wall is in the entertainment hall of puroland, and has become one of my favourite photo spots for how cute and perfect it is!
The My Melo car is actually the same as the ones on ‘My Melo Drive’ ride, which you can also get a souvenir photo of. However, this photo spot is a little more cute because of the background, and you can get a better quality, closer up photo~

Photo recommendation: strawberry carriage

This might be my favourite photo spot ever…
I really felt like a Princess, and the pastel pink colours are too perfect. You can also take photos in this carriage with friends, or bring your itabag hehe~
This photo spot is too adorable, and is conveniently located next to Lady Kitty’s House!

Photo recommendation: My Melody’s room

This photo spot is seriously perfect for My Melody theme codes
The twin chairs would look super cute with a friend, and you can get creative with props and accessories to match the delicious cake!
I really loved the delicate cherry blossom background too, so beautiful…
and the statue of My Melody is too perfect for outfit codes ! I recommend wearing platform shoes for this pose~

Photo recommendation: Puro Shop

One of my favourite photo types is to pose with various merchandise I really love at Sanrio Puroland…!~
This particular shop is for a character called ‘Wish me Mell’, an adorable fluffy white bunny with a rainbow tail. I really loved how pink it was, so it was perfect for photos

Thank you so much for reading angels
I also have more Puro photos in one of my previous trip blog posts, which you can read here ! Hopefully I’ve covered all the cutest photo spots here, but there’s even more in that post hehe… I’ll also be planning new photo ideas and a vlog too on my next trip, so please look forward to that~
Lots of love,

I moved to Tokyo! ♡ A little life update…

 Hello everybun!

It’s been a little while since I wrote on this blog, so I thought I’d write a little life update about moving from London to Tokyo, and a couple other little updates…~

I actually was going to answer a lot of these questions on YouTube, but due to my studies being so demanding, I thought I’d write something here first while I’m still finding my footing, and sort out the full Q&A once I’m more settled, hehe! ♡ These will just be more basic questions, so please be patient with me while I prepare the full Q&A~

When did you move to Japan?

I think this question is probably the most asked one, that is easy to answer !
I moved to Tokyo this year, in April. The reason for this is because my birthday is in March so I could enjoy that day with family and friends, and then school in Japan tends to start in April too  ~ You can also enjoy the cherry blossom season at this time as well, so it’s perfect…

How did you move to Japan?

This seems to be another question I get asked a lot, and while I think I’ll need to simplify it a lot for a blog post, I’ll try my best to explain !
So, I am studying Japanese language in Tokyo, which means I am on a student visa!
If you have a student visa, the school is responsible for helping you move to Japan
I actually had to choose between very little schools, as due to my health conditions most schools would not accept me due to being a ‘liability’… it was a little upsetting, for sure! But I didn’t let that stop me, and finally found a school that was right for me.
Of course, this involved a lot of paper work like finding my old school records, birth certificate, proof of residence, etc, but it’s definitely worth it!~
I really recommend doing your research into the best school for you, as it really differs from person to person~

Why did you move to Japan
So this question has so many answers, too..!
To be honest, I just felt that this was the natural step in my life that I needed to make, and very important to me.
I had been in university studying philosophy in the UK, graduated with my degree, and started a full time job at an office. However, I didn’t feel the job was the right fit for me, and I was worried I’d be living a life full of regrets for not chasing my dreams…
I also felt like I’d just been in this very dark place for a few years, and I needed to get out of there; maybe one day I will talk about this, but moving to Tokyo to achieve my dreams really felt like the last option I had left. Of course, it’s not easy, and perhaps moving to a country with not the best care for mental health wasn’t the smartest idea.. but for me, it really was that or nothing!

Of course, this isn’t just because I adore the fashion, cute goods and cultural aspects of Japan, I actually find learning Japanese to be really fun and rewarding!
As a city girl from London, Tokyo really feels fun to me and I knew that it would be a great place to live, with many like minded people
My goal in Tokyo is to become more confident in my Japanese, and to follow my passions, no matter how hard it might be. I refuse to let health issues stop me!~

How is life in Tokyo, Japan so far?

I think so far things are going well for my new life here !
It can be so stressful and overwhelming at times, as there is a lot of work, and managing all aspects of your life at once can be very tiring. However, overall I know that this was the right decision for me, and that living here has many benefits~
I’ve met so many lovely people, been to so many amazing places and learnt a lot, although it’s only been 2 months of me living here…!
Also, Tokyo has many cure places to visit like themed cafes, rabbit themed shops, girly clothes, beautiful nature and more, so I really have been enjoying living here… I even started a YouTube channel to document these cute places that I’ve found so far, and filming for that has been so much fun!

Thank you for reading this little update, and I’m looking forward to sharing more content with you all…!

Lots of love,

♡ Evie xox

♡ A day at Universal Studios Japan! | Winter 2022 ♡

Good morning everybun~

For today’s blog post, I’m so excited to share all the details about my most recent (and first!) trip to Universal Studios Japan…! ଘ(੭ˊᵕˋ)੭* ੈ✩‧₊˚ We had such an incredible time there, and it was so unique…!

Although I’m not a huge minions fan, I do love this unicorn character, hehe!

♡ Travelling to USJ

We travelled from our hotel in Kyoto to Osaka (where USJ is located) via the train, and took the JR Kyoto line…! It only took about half an hour to get to Osaka, and another 25 minutes to USJ. Once we arrived in Osaka, it was so lovely to just explore a little and check out all the shops before entering the park. There was even a Tully's Coffee shop where we tried the limited seasonal drinks, so refreshing~ I’d really recommend checking the cafe’s around the park before visiting, as there is no queue for them, and they have good options for cute and veggie/vegan things, such as this açai berry smoothie…!

♡ New York & Hollywood area ♡

So honestly, while I was walking around here it was a little overwhelming due to how big the park was and crowded…! Despite that, we didn’t have to queue at the park gates, yay!~
The first thing I noticed was the Jujitsu Kaisen section of the park, it was so cool…! There were many pillars with artwork of the characters, character goods in the shop, food related to the series, and of course, themed activities too! Of course, I had to take a photo with bae, hehe…!

This section of the park changes quite a lot, and I was a little disappointed that we had missed the Demon Slayer theme. However, this was still so cool to see…! I really loved seeing the New York style decorations around this area, especially Spider Man!

There was also this huge Christmas tree, which was so beautiful and festive! The whole tree was covered with sparkling lights, which looked so pretty later on that day~

♡ Harry Potter area

I didn’t expect to really spend much time looking around this part of the park, but strangely it was actually really fun and well made? I’m not really a Harry Potter fan because of the author, but I do love fantasy so thought I’d have fun and try out being a Hogwarts transfer student for the day, hehe…

The castle looked absolutely incredible ! I really loved all the small details and how all the main buildings from the series had been included. The traditional sweets shops, pub and cobbled streets were all so cute! There was also a live show, where students from each house preformed a dance~

We then decided to visit the food hall, as it looked just like the movies…! As it was quite a sunny day, it also seemed like a good idea to sit inside where you could rest. There was pretty much only meat options for sale, but thankfully I spotted a couple dessert options we could share♡

I tried this lemonade, and it was quite refreshing and nice! You had the option to buy drinks in either this Harry Potter themed cup, or a plastic butterbeer cup. I chose this one as I’d already had butterbeer as a child and didn’t quite feel like trying it again, hehe…! The hall was also so beautiful, although we were so tired after queuing for a long time~

Here is what I chose! This dessert took a while to arrive as it is a smoking cauldron, and looked amazing…! Perfect for photos if you’re dressing up as a character. This is a lemon flavoured sponge cake~ Unfortunately, I can’t say that it tasted all that great… the sponge was very dry, not fresh at all and the cream/sauce tasted synthetic. I’d only really recommend this for photos~

I took some photos with my Jyushi plush, since he matches the dessert so well ♡

overall thoughts and rating of this park

Overall, I enjoyed visiting Universal Studios Japan! There were many cute things to look at and despite the crowds, we had a great day. However, because of the crowds, we weren’t able to do any rides or properly enjoy a lot of the attractions, and queuing for snacks that were overpriced but did not taste nice wasn’t so good. Actually, we ended up leaving early to go back to Kyoto, as there were just much more fun things to do there…!~♪ I also didn’t end up buying anything from this theme park as the merchandise wasn’t very cute.

So whilst I’d recommend this park, I’d say that Disney and Puroland are far better theme parks to visit in Japan! This is mainly because I found the shopping, food and drink options much better in those parks, but if you’re not a vegan and like meat perhaps you’d not be bothered by this. And if you do visit Universal Studios here, maybe try not to go on a weekend. I think next time I’m in Japan, I’ll give this park one more try when it’s a weekday.

Thank you so much for reading…! ♡
